Brief Biography

Dr. Emeaba Onuma Emeaba is a writer of note in the US, and a successful entrepreneur with business interests in Printing, Binding, and Publishing.

He studied at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) Ile-Ife where he received a bachelor’s degree in English Studies with language specialization, and a Masters in English Linguistics.

Emeaba taught freshman English at the University of Ife before moving to Aba in Abia State, Nigeria where he was the lead presenter of the English Language for Schools Instructional Television program of the Nigerian Television Authority, Channel 6. He served as Speech Writer and Personal Assistant to the Aba Local Government chairman before proceeding to the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida USA to engage in a research Doctor of Philosophy degree in Linguistics. While in Florida, he taught College Composition at Santa-Fe Community College, Gainesville. Emeaba also taught Advanced Grammar and Composition at Wiley College in Marshall, Texas as he worked on his research program. He moved to Houston, Texas to join the faculty of Texas Southern University as an Instructor of Developmental English. He holds a Doctor of Education degree in Instructional Technology and Distance Education.

A polyglot par-excellence, Emeaba speaks Igbo, Efik, French, Yoruba, Ga (Togo language), and of course, English. An author of several books, one of which – A Dictionary of Literature - is recommended text in the Nigerian Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board Literature-in-English examinations, he left Texas Southern University in Houston to start his own publishing business.

At Great Ife, Emeaba was the General Officer Commanding the Man O. War Club and an editor of the dreaded Cobra News Agency campus paper. In Houston, Texas, Emeaba has been a former P.R.O. of Great Ife Alumni Association, and a former Executive President of the Nigerian Foundation – an umbrella organization of the more than 160,000 Nigerians in Houston, Texas. He is the publisher of the Houston-based, African diaspora’s foremost newsmagazine, The Drum Magazine.
